On October 22, 2019, psychology postgraduate students of PSYC 7481 Drug Abuse course visited AADK Gombak as part of learning experience for the course.

En. Syaiful Asfar bin Abd. Rahman, the Head of AADK Gombak welcomed Dr. Intan Aidura Alias, instructor of PSYC 7481 and 16 students. The briefing session was also joined by Cure and Care Service Center (CCSC) family and supporting staffs from divisions of Treatment, Medication & Rehabilitation, Prevention and Enforcement & Security. The team shared their knowledge and experience on treatment and recovery methods to help drug addicts recover and live a normal life. Also discussed by En. Syaiful was the reality and risks of social diversion among high risk locals in Gombak communities. Students were grateful for the opportunity given to get close and personal with one of the former drug addict who had shared past experience as a drug addict and provided personal insight on the issue. Students learned that further efforts are needed to create awareness on the effects of drug abuse to one’s life, family and to the community as a whole.
