Admission to the Undergraduate Programme at the Department of Psychology, IIUM adheres to the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Psychology Programme Standards. (Ref: Circular No. 5/2013 and Circular Letter No. 2/2016). According to this Standards (p. 30), applicants should have at least credits in English, Mathematics, and Science to qualify for admission. In addition, the University has set other requirements for admission based on applicant’s academic record. Therefore, the Department would like to stress that good background in Mathematics and Science, particularly Biology, and a good command of English are important criteria for admission consideration.
The Department requires a CGPA of 2.8 and a minimum grade B in Introduction to Psychology course for Matriculation students or equivalent for direct intake students.

This undergraduate programme provides training in the broad area of psychology with opportunity to study some specialised courses in applied psychology. It prepares students for employment in areas related to psychology and the pursuit of postgraduate studies.
International Qualifications

The GENERAL academic requirements for admission into undergraduate degree programmes of IIUM are:

At least three (3) principal passes (minimum grade D)*** (IMPORTANT - PLEASE SEE NOTES BELOW) in the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’ (GCE) ‘A’ Level Examination (UK Educational System) obtained in one sitting; OR

Any other qualifications that are recognised by the Senate of the University as equivalent to the above
***IMPORTANT NOTE: Admission to the Undergraduate Programme at the Department of Psychology, IIUM, however, MUST adhere to the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Psychology Programme Standards. (Ref: Circular No. 5/2013 and Circular Letter No. 2/2016), which implies that applicants should have at least credits in English, Mathematics, and Science in internationally accredited certification, e.g., the General Certificate of Education ‘Advanced Level’ (GCE) ‘A’ Level Examination (UK Educational System), to qualify for admission.
